Malaga is one of the most cosmopolitan and contemporary cities of Andalusia. Despite being one of the oldest cities in Europe, being stablished by the Phoenicians, Malaga has managed to adapt perfectly to the 21st century. If you have a few days to visit this city there are things that you can not miss when considering what to do in Malaga
The museums of Málaga
At the beginning of the 21st century, the main hall of Málaga proposed an urban strategy that radically transformed the city. Streets were pedestrianized, transport was improved, and a in a few years it became the liveliest city in the south of the peninsula. Following the example of Bilbao, a total reform of the museum and cultural offer was made, making the cultural visit something mandatory when you ask yourself what to do in Malaga. The Picasso Museum, the Carmen Thyssen, the Aduana Museum or the Contemporary Art Center are our favorites, but there are many more!
Swim!
Malaga is one of the andalusian coastal capitals and the nucleus of the well-known Costa del Sol. One of the advantages it has is a wonderful climate most of the year, although occasionally the rain or “the terral” appear. This city has extensive beaches where you can enjoy a swim or a nice walk along the seashore. In the city we can find the Malagueta or Pedregalejo, two beaches located in the most traditional neighborhoods of the city. However, the beaches do not end here, the province of Malaga has others like those of Nerja, Fuengirola or Estepona. Taking a bath in the Mediterranean is always a must!
The “pescaito”
Another advantage of the coastal position of Malaga is its gastronomy. The main dish of Málaga are the “espetos”. This dish was so loved here that it was even proposed as intangible heritage of humanity to Unesco in 2017. The espeto consists in strunging the “sardinas” on a cane stuck in the sand near some embers. Although it seems a simple dish, the espeteros have a refined technique to do it. However, what to do in Malaga to alleviate hunger is not reduced to eating “espetos”. Also anchovies, mussels with pipirrana, dogfish or monkfish are some of their marine delicacies that you can taste in some places in the city.
With these tips you can start planning your days in Malaga, so we hope to see you soon here to discover what to do in Malaga together!
